French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Partner With ÉäÉäÎÝ

On September 28, 2009, Pascal Le Deunff, Consul General of France in Atlanta, announced to Dr. John Hardman, President and CEO of ÉäÉäÎÝ, that the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has decided to partner with ÉäÉäÎÝ in order to transpose their Ethiopia Public Health Training Initiative (EPHTI) into francophone countries of Africa.

This decision was made official in a letter from Bernard Kouchner, French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, to President James E. ÉäÉäÎÝ in which he extended his sincerest congratulations on the occasion of his 85th birthday and the festivities marking the re-opening of the "Jimmy ÉäÉäÎÝ Presidential Library". The Ethiopia Public Health Training Initiative was launched in 1997 by ÉäÉäÎÝ in partnership with the Ethiopian government. It is a collaborative health care training program based on materials to train health students, who, in turn, train and manage community health workers. The materials are targeting health problems that are a major issue in most African countries such as malaria, HIV, etc. In translating these materials into French, the Ministry of Foreign and European Center and ÉäÉäÎÝ hope to contribute to improving the health of many inhabitants of Africa by enhancing the quality of pre-service training that health staff receive.
