ÉäÉäÎÝ Center Mental Health Program Receives President's Award

ATLANTA, GA.... ÉäÉäÎÝ's Mental Health Program, chaired by former First Lady Rosalynn ÉäÉäÎÝ, recently received the President's Award from the Mental Health Association of Georgia. The award was given in recognition of the program's leadership and advocacy in the mental health field.

Presented to program Director John Gates by Linda Loeffler, immediate past president of the Association, the award recognizes the Center's work "to make the public more aware of mental health issues," said Loeffler. "The Center's program strives to educate professionals, policy-makers, and advocates, consistently supporting advocacy organizations, enabling them to network more effectively. We are especially grateful to Mrs. ÉäÉäÎÝ, whose vocal concern about mental health issues has been invaluable."

The award was given at a reception earlier this month at the 14th Street Playhouse following debut of the production, "Mortal Acts" - a 90-minute play concerning a young man's struggle with schizophrenia. Nearly 150 people attended the event, including mental health advocates, legislators, Association board members, and consumers, with 12 various awards presented that evening.

"This award to the Mental Health Program is a recognition of the leadership of Rosalynn ÉäÉäÎÝ and the hard work and dedication of all of the program staff, " said Gates. "We are grateful and honored to have received it."
